If you are looking for a high school that wins at everything, look no further than the Athletics goliath that is Cherry Creek High School.

Easily an overall top 10 sports high school in the nation, the Bruins have racked up 150+ state championships in Colorado and have established themselves as one of the most successful schools in high school sports history.

And the football team is a large piece of the juggernaut that has been rolled through the nation.

The Bruins football team, who are consistently ranked among the best in the state, won 9 of those state championships. Producing wins and talent at the collegiate and professional levels, they have built up consist winning football teams, especially in the last 5 years.

A big part of their recent surge has been the leadership of head coach Dave Logan, who has pushed the program into the state spotlight once again.

It is clear that the tradition of wins and championships for this school is prominent on the gridiron and won’t be going away anytime soon. The program has an unmatched work ethic and passion for living up to the standards of their fans and impressing at the national stage. With their 9th state title coming just 3 years ago, you could say they are due to extend that number into double digits in the near future.

Notable Recruits:

  • Kyle Shanahan (Duke, Texas/ OC 49ers)
  • Tyler Polumbus (Colorado/ Denver Broncos)
  • Sean Tufts (Colorado/ Carolina Panthers)
  • Tom Ashworth (Colorado/ New England Patriots)
  • Jon Van Diest ‘17 (Colorado)

Best Season:

2014: While we could go with a season from the 80’s or 90’s when Cherry Creek dominated the state football scene, 2014 may have been just as special.

Their first state championship in the 2000’s was one of the programs most impressive single game wins. It came against Valor Christian at Sports Authority field where they defeated the Eagles 25-24. Valor had been 26-0 in the playoffs going into the game before the Bruins were able to reclaim the hardware.

Why We Chose Them:

As we mentioned, Cherry Creek Athletics are a thing of legend. As for the Bruins football program, they sit at the forefront of the trophy case for the school. For a place that has run out of room to hang the banners, that is saying something.

As for the future, with a program nearing double digits in state championships, this team is nowhere near done yet. There are more banners and trophies to raise for the Bruins.
